A committed player
As a responsible industrial player, Hutchinson is firmly committed to sustainable development. We are uncompromising in our goal of safeguarding the future for generations to come and reconciling financial performance, while instilling respect for the environment and ensuring the durability of an infrastructure of social justice.

Hutchinson continues its efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its activities. Over 50 sites have now obtained ISO 14001 certification in Europe, America and in Asia. This continuing improvement approach implies substantial investment, the implementation of an environmental management system and involvement on behalf of all personnel.

After having greatly reduced its CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, Hutchinson has begun to seriously attack the problem of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). Many of our industrial sites are now equipped with treatment units that capture and destroy VOCs.
Our researchers and technicians are pursuing their efforts in the design of manufacturing processes that reduce or eliminate environmental impact, in particular, by limiting the use of chlorinated solvents.

Preserving resources
Fresh water is a rare resource that is distributed quite unevenly across our planet. Over the last 10 years, Hutchinson has managed to cut its consumption in half, thanks especially to recycling.
Other efforts have been made with respect to energy. Several energy savings programs have been implemented on the industrial sites in a variety of ways, including replacing oil-burning boilers by gas models, heating workshops with autoclave-generated heat, general adoption of induction welding, investment in more efficient furnaces and smart lighting management to cite but a few examples …
Greener products
Hutchinson’s creativity has also been harnessed for developing more environmentally-friendly products. Many studies have a two-prong thrust concerning materials: reducing weight for automotive, aeronautical and railroad transport and promoting recyclable materials such as thermoplastic elastomers or VEGAPRENE®.
Not to mention that certain innovative products actually have a positive impact on the environment, as is the case with the 100% recyclable SPONTEX® cloth sponges or LINKEO® flexible hoses that help reduce hydrocarbon emissions on vehicle exhaust lines.
