The “ANTINOISE” BELT
EPDM belts have exceptional durability, equal to or longer than the average operating lifetime of the vehicles on which they are used. Hutchinson has pioneered the POLY V® belt in automotive, and has developed a new POLY V® EPDM antinoise belt specially designed to eliminate noise nuisance. These noise nuisances are present particularly while the engine is starting, and their origin is the so-called stick-slip phenomenon.

Stick-slip caused by mis-alignment of pulleys: due to mis-alignment, the belt follows an alternating rise-and-fall movement along the sides of the pulley.

Hutchinson has developed an antinoise EPDM belt provided with a surface coating that completely eliminates this phenomenon, even under the worst possible conditions: severely acyclic engines, extreme cold, high humidity, etc. This coating is composed of very high technicity polymers with specially-adapted mechanical, thermal and tribological characteristics, and is perfectly compatible with the EPDM from which the belt is made, and has exceptional durability.
This coating is particularly suitable for the belt molding process controlled by Hutchinson for many years. The Hutchinson process is kinder to the environment than the traditional machining process that produces up to 20% waste that is difficult to recycle.
Hutchinson’s new EPDM POLY V® belt combines durability with silence.
