Fire protection in Aeronautics
Jehier has developed many materials and items of equipment satisfying the strictest technical criteria for its clients, and has created innovative tests means for this purpose.
Thus since September 2005, all materials used in the composition of insulation for aircraft cabs have been required to satisfy the requirements of standard FAR 25 856 (a). This standard defines the fire behavior of thermal and acoustic insulation materials and equipment in terms of fire propagation and extinguishing times. Therefore Jehier has developed a special test bench (radiant panel) to test its own materials during the development and series production phases. Jehier allows its clients to use this recognized test means certified by civil aviation authorities.Jehier is also developing a test means to satisfy the new FAR 25 856(b) standard. This standard defines the burnthrough behavior of thermal insulation equipment for aircraft fuselages in the case of an external fire.
Jehier uses this special test bench to test materials and architectures for fuselage thermal insulation equipment.
For aeronautical structures and equipment, Jehier makes thermal protection for use as flame arresters satisfying standards ISO 2685 and FAR 25 / AC20 – 135: resistance of thermal protections to a fuel or gas fire (continuous temperature 1100°C) for 15 minutes. Jehier carries out these tests on its own test bench on behalf of large aeronautical clients. These tests are done while loads are applied to test pieces (ventilation, pressure, vibrations, mechanical loads).
