The “ANTINOISE” BELT
EPDM belts have exceptional durability, equal to or longer than the average operating lifetime of the vehicles on which they are used. Hutchinson has pioneered the POLY V® belt in automotive, and has developed a new POLY V® EPDM antinoise belt specially designed to eliminate noise nuisance. These noise nuisances are present particularly while the engine is starting, and their origin is the so-called stick-slip phenomenon.

Active Antivibration Decoupling
Conventional antivibration systems require a compromise between the isolation of vibrations for NVH performance and the load carrying capacity required to support the suspended mass of the system for durability performance.

Hydro-elastic Vibration Decoupling
The two main functions of a suspension are firstly to limit relative displacements of suspended masses, for example a powertrain with respect to the bodywork of a vehicle, and secondly to filter medium and high frequency vibrations to give a good degree of vibrational and acoustic comfort. Although the first function requires the highest possible stiffness in all directions, the second function can be better satisfied if the stiffness is as low as possible for the vibration amplitudes and frequencies to be filtered.

Multi-axis vibration decoupling
The degrees of freedom for elastic vehicle dynamics and chassis parts performing guidance functions must be particularly stiff and well-damped to ensure correct vehicle behavior and good roadholding. Degrees of freedom corresponding to preferred directions of vibration transfer channels and that have the highest influence on running noise as heard by passengers, need to be flexible at high frequency.

Barrier Films in Fuel and Air-conditioning Pipes
Elastomer-based pipes have an incomparable flexibility. Nevertheless, they are permeable to gases and particularly to gasoline vapors or coolant in automotive air-conditioning circuits.
Hutchinson has developed pipes with thermoplastic films that act like “barrier” layers and oppose effusion of gases, in order to satisfy this need.

Linear Tensioners with Hydraulic Damping
It is necessary to ensure a minimum belt tension and to limit the effects of belt vibration and slip, for all thermal combustion engine accessory drive systems (cars, heavy trucks, farm machinery, ships, etc.). This is why it may be necessary to use automatic tensioners.

LINKEO®
The commitment made by European makers to reduce C02 emissions/km requires new products to improve the thermodynamics of motordrives.
However, this trend cannot be materialized without taking account of economic, quality and comfort considerations.
Hutchinson has developed a composite decoupling hose for use in future exhaust lines or high temperature lines with an unequaled potential for vibration damping and thermal insulation, to make this trend possible.

The STRETCHYBELT® elastic belt
The belt tension is one of the most important functional characteristics in a transmission system. The most frequently used method for guaranteeing a minimum operating tension is to use a tensioner (fixed or automatic). The elastic belt is an innovative, high performance and economical solution pioneered by Hutchinson.
